MALE TEACHER DIS-APPRECIATION!

So during the Teacher Appreciation luncheon that was just sponsored by the PTO, there was one parent stationed by the door holding a bucket of roses. A rose was given to each teacher upon leaving. I teach with a staff of roughly 50 and am one of only 2 males on staff. I WAS NOT OFFERED A ROSE. NEITHER WAS THE OTHER MALE TEACHER.

It is just bad manners to offer a rose to a rose.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 12:40pmthat is seriously unthoughtful. even if they thought they the male teachers would not like roses, they should have given you something!!

Grrrr...I wish.
I guess I keep up my record of noone ever giving me flowers...

Posted: 5/11/06 at 12:45pmWell, that was stupid. What were they thinking? Some men like flowers better than women - for example - I dislike flowers but my husband loves them.

Posted: 5/11/06 at 1:03pmCan this be brought up at the next PTO meeting? The issue should be raised, even when the week or the event itself may have passed...

Posted: 5/11/06 at 1:23pmThat sucks, but most PTO's are full of women like the one on 'Weeds', not aware of the world around them.

That reminds me of last year, for Admin Day the women all got these really nice baskets with plants, and I don't even remember what I got, not that exciting. I, of course, said how it wasn't fair.
I currently take care of the plant baskets of both of my female co-workers, and this year we all got the same.
