interesting...

i'm very into cryptozoology but i'm mostly interested in giant octopi (also called kraken) and giant squid.

i'm still posting this on the lj crypto group though.

edit: the crypto board is a-buzz with activity. most of it not in favor of that actually being nessie.

there's been speculation that that picture shows an elephant swimming. they swim with their trunks out of water like that. when that picture was taken, there was a circus next to the loch.

The picture Becoz_I_knew_you21 is showing has actually been confirmed as a toy submarine with plastic shaped like the neck.

i haven't but i will go rent it now that i know!
the kraken was the reason i origanally got into pokemon in middle school... gyrodos's (a sea monster pokemon) original name was skullkraken :)

i have my own theory about the loch ness monster though...

It looks like the shadow of a wave in that new video. They've shown shots like this before on the Discovery Channel... how the waves can cause shadows in the lake that fool people.

I've visited Loch Ness and loved it. It's a very cool place, and it's fun to fantasize about what's down there.

I think things like this are fascinating, but the video really does look like a shadow or wake from a boat. Even though I'd like to believe there's something down there, this video isn't convincing me yet.

I'm suddenly reminded of the short story (not so short, as it turned out) I wrote for a school assignment, aptly (but not imaginatively) titled THE LOCHNESS MONSTER. In short (but not really), it involved six scientists (three men, three women -- all couples), an evil businessman, a water theme park, a captured baby Nessie and one angry mama.
