I am in the process of putting together the somewhat obligatory montage for my son's bar mitzvah (baby pictures through present time set to schmaltzy, sappy music). For my daughter's montage 4 years ago, one of the songs I used was Make Your Own Kind of Music (the Mama Cass Elliot recording). Mama Cass has always been a favorite of mine, and that song is a particular favorite. It delivers a message that we all should remember, and which I (like most parents, I'm sure) have always tried to instill in my kids - it may not be the easiest thing to do, but do your own thing and be your own person, even if it's a little lonely to do so. I am now trying to come up with songs that share a similar sentiment, and while I can't hope to come up with a song that, for me, will be more perfect, I would really appreciate any suggestions that you may have. (And if the song captures the "Now Sound", to quote Sammy Davis Jr. from this 1969 appearance, even better - a girl can dream, can't she?) Thanks again.
Mama Cass

papa - I actually thought it would be funny to use the Team America song (even just for a minute - until people realized what it was). You'd be surprised at how many people just don't share my sense of humor...
Bris/Bar Mitzvah - same basic protocol - we get together and kvell (beam with pride and pleasure, kvetch (to complain) and ess (eat).
