#1Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
Posted: 11/6/07 at 8:32pmI saw the trailer for this about a gazillion times this summer and since it's opening next week I've started seeing it again. I think this movie looks like it could be a lot of fun, but I'm not sure what to think of it until I know what Cruel_Sandwich has to say about it. I think he'll find it a searing commentary on commercialization of affection and the alienation of real connection in a post-modern, post-9/11 world.

I saw it a few weeks ago. It's actually extremely dark. Not a children's film at all.
*SPOILERS*
Mister Magorium turns out to be Satan...

Yeah. It's a pretty off-beat little flick.
He organ-harvests Natalie Portman once she and Jason Bateman discover the 3,420 year old poltergeist that he has chained up within the store. It's a very weird movie.

Posted: 11/7/07 at 10:43amI never really had much of an opinion about Natalie Portman (except that she was dreadful in The Diary of Anne Frank) until she did that hilarious SNL video short where she gangsta rapped.

I love Natalie! And the thought of any movie involving organ harvesting just makes me moist in my v-spot!
Is there lots of gore Cruel?

I want to see he producers admit they stole this idea from the Simpsons: Fresh from his Broadway triumph in "Stop the Planet of the Apes, I Want to Get Off!," Troy McClure turns down the new McBain movie to star in his self-directed film "The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel."
When I saw this preview I said "Good God, Hoffman is stealing Troy's part!"

I knew you would, Cruel!
I saw it over the weekend. I was disappointed. It wasn't really much of anything.
