Posted: 1/4/06 at 8:27pmI remember reading it in highschool - and I HATED it - second only to Pride and Prejudice. Now, I don't always subscribe to the art forms as being gender specific (I'm a straight man who is hugely interested in musical theater after all), but neither of those books should ever be force-fed to ANY teenage boy under any circumstances ever!

Posted: 1/5/06 at 8:41amI also must say that I hated this book, and this is coming from someone who liked almost all of the assigned reading in high school. I just found it to be dreadfully boring and didn't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters.
