It was just announced that Rev Run and his wife lost their baby hours after it was just delievered.
MTV cameras were in the room documenting it for their reality show.
TMZ.com said the baby was born with "organs outside the body".
I truly am deeply sorry for their loss.
That is absolutley horrible.
Shouldn't an ultrasound detect that before a baby is actually born?

I can't say I don't experience a pang of sympathy for the situation, but this truly exemplifies my antipathy for the entire 'reality' genre.
The producers must be thrilled.
Who is Rev Run?

As someone who has known a lot of women who miscarried, good vibes are definitely going out.

Never heard of any Rev Run. I guess they will put anything on TV these days.
rev run former Run-DMC frontman
also did an episode of wild n out
This is very sad, but the fact that it will be part of a reality TV show is even sadder.
Rev Run was part of Run-DMC ... does that help those who don't know who he is? (Edit: zzannahk beat me to it.)
"rev run former Run-DMC frontman"
Well, that explains it then.
*still clueless*
OK - think back about 20 years or so to a "Walk this Way" Video. Run-DMC was the group singing with Aerosmith.
Run-DM was one of the most influential rap groups of their generation.

I don't care for rap but I have heard of Run DMC. Isn't there another ex-rapper who has also turned to preaching after his rap days ended ("Can't Touch This")?
While I feel horrible for this family I am a bt confused. How on earth were external organs not picked up on an ultrasound?
In fact, DG, I'm sure the producers are NOT thrilled. This means they won't be showing the labor/delivery, the joy and stress of a new baby in an already big family, etc. The new plot twist is now not going to happen.
That's MC Hammer, jim....I cannot believe there are people on this board who have never heard of Run DMC...a shanda!
I know, lil!
Well, excuse me for not being old!
You know who George Gershiwin is, right?
What, you only know about performers who were in their prime during your memory?
Man, you're missing a LOT.
I don't buy the "it's before my time" excuse on these boards.
I love Gwen Verdon and Angela Lansbury despite never having seen them live. If we confined ourselves to that which was created in our active memories, all we'd have is Shakira and the McRib.
Mmmmmm, McRib...

Why is it so hard to believe that I've never heard of Rev Run or Run-DMC? I was only a child in the '80s and was not even living in the US at the time. Besides, I'm not a fan of rap music. I couldn't even tell you who the latest flash in the pan is.
I'm not a fan of rap music either - but there is something to be said for the pioneers of an entire cultural event.
Yes, but presumably you know who Gershwin (see earlier post) was and he's FAR before your time. Dead before you were even born, in fact.
I don't find it hard to believe--I think it's almost impossible unless you never watch tv, listen to the radio or read a magazine, which would be the opposite of what I would imagine a person interested in the arts would do.
I don't like country music, but I know who George Strait is. And I've at least HEARD of many others.
It's just that one's aesthetic seems incomplete without a basic knowledge of MANY types of music. No offense, Stage.

Yeah, but I haven't always known who Gershwin was. Same with this person/these people. Now, I at least have an inkling.

Believe it or not, I don't have TV, I rarely listen to the radio, and I don't read magazines unless I'm sitting in a waiting room. That's not to say that I live under a rock, but I get my news elsewhere. For instance, the internet -- and I read the paper. Imagine that!

I don't care for country, either. However, I have a sister-in-law who's a fan and I get most of my knowledge from her. I'm not familiar with anyone who listens to rap. At least, not anymore. My brother used to listen to Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dogg et al, but I don't remember any mention of Rev Run or Run-DMC.

None taken... *mutters* Bitch!
Why am I even explaining myself to you people?
Because you're desperate for our love!!
