The Desert Sun, on page A2 today, ie the SECOND page of the Sunday paper, has a HUGE article on Fred Phelps, his church, and his ridiculous idea that gays are the root of all evil.
I refuse to read the article, however it sickens me that they think this is worthy of page 2.

ARRGH!

It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

The first rule is to know your enemy. Read the article. You can't honestly discuss it with people in your area until you do. Be informed to the nth degree and be prepared.

Once you calm down and are capable of thinking again carefully craft an honest, sincere, thought out, solid, and strong letter to the editor. No hyperbole, no blowhard's outrage - people stop reading when they see that. Words can be powerful when used well.

Run off copies to post places before you send it. Around here favorite places to post such messages are on newspaper boxes, telephone or light poles, public kiosks, and bulletin boards. Just don't do anything illegal that will detract from your message. (Around here there's never prosecution for posting - I'm sure you know your neighborhood well enough to get a message seen.)
