It's a really long story, but here goes:
I really like this kid, and up until Wednesday he'd tell me things like, oh, you're so beautiful, you're so funny, blah blah blah. So on Wednesday I asked him if he likes me, and he goes, I really like you a lot, but I've started something with this other girl. Now, I cannot stand this girl. She's dumb as a post and she TALKS IN MONOLOGUES... MONOLOGUES!! I wish I could show you guys, I have it down to an art form. So what I don't understand is how he can say all these things genuinely and still be going out with this girl? There's so much more to it, but I'm exhausted and that's all that's really important. He's by no means a bad guy, but I just don't get it!
Tiff, I thought they'd be gone now since they've been around since 8 this morning!

A simple rule.
Get ready to write it down.
Men are really dumb.
Another one.
All men are pigs.
If you remember these simple rules, your life will be easier.
I am a biological male and also like to mess around with them too.

*note to self*
Must remember not to speak in monologues...
The only thing I'd add is that sensitivity to YOU should be high on your list of things to look for in a guy...and this guy doesn't sound like he's on the same page as you are...

Honey-
Men don't want one woman. Do the same thing. Date many men.
I DO! I am going through the exact same thing.
Don't over eat, instead date others.
You will be amazed how much fun it will be.
Also play hard to get.
Men are dogs honey.
DOGS!

Aww, I'm so sorry! I hope you feel better, sweetie!
I think you should get yourself all dolled up and whenever around them, strut with lots of attitude. Work it, honey! Don't let em see you down and out.
Also, have a great night out on the town!

Okay, not all men are dogs... but my favorite cure for this is B&J Phish Food
Corine, god love ya, but dating many men won't be the answer to NameInLight's plight. I also beg to differ that all men want to date more than one woman... I think that's a common misconception and though most of the men I have encountered in my life have been dogs, and have been inable to be monogomous, there are some gems out there. I hate to give you less hope than you already have, but they are tough to find. My only pearl of wisdom in that respect is just keep looking -- you'll know a keeper when you find one, and when you do, don't let go.
You don't want a man who's going to play yo-yo with your emotions, no matter how much he cares about you or loves you or finds your attractive. If he feels all these things for you, but yet is committing himself to another woman, drop his ass like a bad habit. Unfortunately, I speak from experience on that one.

Just to add onto CJR's advice... when you do drop them, it's amazing to see how often they come running back. It's such an annoying game.
When you find the one who doesn't play games, respects you for who you are, supports your daily endavors and dreams... he's the one to settle down with. Until then, be confident and know that you are probably just too good for him. Whenever something like that happened to me, of course, I was hurt. Later on, I would realize what a real jerk the guy was and how it not working out really spared me a lot of grief.
Also, I have to disagree that all men want several women. I have dated some great men who are not interested in dating more than one woman. I promise that there are some amazing guys out there! You'll meet him when you least expect it (I know I never thought I'd meet my husband the way I did).

Agreed bmeonbway....
ESPECIALLY about meeting the man of your dreams the way you least expect it.
Short funny story on the same topic.... met 'the man of my dreams' almost 5 years ago through a mutual friend and after only about 10 minutes of talking to him I turned to my friend and told her I was going to marry him. Of course, I'm probably off base, but when you know, you know.

Thanks a lot you guys. It means so much! I don't have very good luck with guys. I'm the ugly, funny, sarcastic sidekick. But I thought it was going to be different this time, you know? It was like, hot damn, someone likes me back. Alert the papers. I really don't want to sound like a whiny biotch.
Corine, one day you and I will hit the town and get as many men as we possibly can. Because we're beautiful and they will just lay at our feet!

Oh sweetie, it's okay. I'm sure you have a great personality.

MyNameinLights...guys...they're like that. Been there.
This one guy I started to like said he wasn't able to continue anything (we weren't boyfriend/girlfriend exactly, but we weren't "just friends" if you know what I mean), but I liked him and he liked me. He said he was going to have to move back to his country because, well, you know. He said he wasn't sure if he was going to be back in school this year (now).
So it ends. I don't talk to him all summer, but supposedly he came to my work once to say hi to me but I wasn't there. First day of school comes around, and what do you know - he says "hi" to me. I was shocked because I was pretty sure he was going to be gone. And now, I hear he has a girlfriend, but not sure if that's true. Well, why the hell do you have a g/f now if you were going to have to move? You couldn't have one before...
