NW Wind Storm

Wow... digging up from the worst windstorm to hit the NW in a couple of decades.
- Four people dead
- Countless fallen trees - on houses and cars
- 1 million homes/businesses without power
- Traffic lights out throughout
- Bridge across the lake is closed (one of only two bridges)
I've not been through something like this before. I could swear the wind was going to blow the roof off the house I live in. And being that I live in an attic apartment... I can't even begin to imagine what going through a hurricane or tornado.
And to top it all off, my best friend's car was the unfortunate casualty to a fallen 100-year old tree:
His car is the white one.

I know! First we had a freakish rain storm:
A major arterial out of the city:
A few blocks away from my house:

Posted: 12/15/06 at 2:37pmWe are digging out. Is your family ok, Scott? I heard Whidbey is entirely without power, have not heard anything from Camano.

Dottie: the pic is from this morning, when it was over.
On a side note: a helicopter reporting on the damage caught a fire starting in an apartment complex. And the concern is that firetrucks are a) dispatched dealing with everything else, and roads to the area are blocked with downed trees.
Wow... the apt. is totally engulfed in flames.

Glad to know they are ok, and that they have power again. Being that they live right on the convergence zone where the winds are usually the strongest.
I know, tink. Can you say enough? First the wettest month in history with floods and snow, and now two windstorms in a row, with this last one being called a 20-year event.
The only bit of good news is that the ski resorts have LOTS of snow. Over a foot fell last night.
