Do any of you New Yorkers know of any local papers...want ads if you will that I could pick up next time I'm in the city? I'm looking for a sublet, and my only resource thus far has been craigslist.

Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!

You could try Village Voice I suppose, but Craigslist is pretty much is the only one.

Excellent...at least I know I'm not missing out on something major.

Thanks!

You are welcome. I've never used their services but I've been tempted. The thing I like is the fact that the photos are extremely candid. You get a real sense of what the sublet is like on the inside.

Yeah...I'm looking really early, I'm sure I'll find something when the time comes.

I am also looking to move sometime soon. But just to clarify, what's the difference between "prewar doorman" and "postwar doorman," and is one preferable to the other?
Also, is the East or West side better?

"That is from the `Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.` Here's another one. `In the room women come and go/Talking of Michael Angelo.' Does that suggest anything to you, sir?" "Yeah -- it suggests to me that the guy didn't know very much about women." "My sentiments exactly, sir. Nonetheless I admire T. S. Eliot very much." In terms of the east and west side, where about are you looking? In midtown, I'd prefer the east side since it's further away from times square. As far as uptown...I adore the upper westside. It seems to have a younger crowd as opposed to the east side which is more of a classic NYC lifestyle and seems to be more of families and older people. It's NYC though...you can't really go wrong with either one. It's all about personal preference.

I want an apartment starting in the Fall. Perhaps I should start shopping around?

Thanks, adoannie.
Liotte, am I correct in guessing you live on the West side?

PJ, the earliest I've found is April...I'm looking for July, I'll let you know if I come across anything though.

Yes, I live on the West Side. It is much better than the East Side, if nothing else but the subway system- so many more trains to choose from to go anywhere. East Side you have one line, and it's a pain to get to the theater district. Especially if you live really far east as I used to (on 23/FDR), where the closest train is at Park Ave.
