Posted: 3/4/08 at 1:39amPleasant surprise. Yesterday, his new album shockingly went up on the site. 36 all-instrumental tracks. Should be good. I've always preferred his instrumentals to his vocals.

Not only that,have you heard that he did just what Radiohead did and everyone thought they were crazy.
Most of the album is available for free, with different box sets available to purchase, including a $300 Box set that sold out its 2500 Limited Edition numbers in less than a day,I believe.
So much for all the people who said that no one would buy it if it was available for free.
The old model for media distribution is dead.
Long live the new one.

Radiohead's album still debuted at #1 both here and in the UK and sold a sizable amount.
and since they won't release any data regarding how successful or not the pay-any-price campaign was, it's a bit premature to condemn the current business model.
As far as we know they lost big time.
