So, McCain is supposedly strong on foreign policy, and this is an alleged weakness for Obama. However, recent events seem to prove just the opposite.

Obama has called for diplomacy with Iran. The US is now sending representatives to Iran negatiations.

Obama has called for a timetable for troop withdrawals from Iraq. The US has agreed to a 'time horizon' for troop reduction.

Obama has called for increased troops in Afghanistan & Pakistan. McCain and Bush have done a complete 180 on this, and the media hasn't jumped on it as a 'flip-flop'.

On these major policy points, Obama has proved to be correct, however the media keeps wondering what he needs to do to bolster his foreign policy creds. Perhaps getting fair coverage from the media might help?

He appeared to be wrong on the Surge

He also wants to bomb Pakistan in search of terrorists with or without Pakistans approval.

He wasn't wrong on the surge. That's a Republican distraction from the real point here. The only thing the surge has done is reduce violence, and that took nearly a year longer than was projected. Most of the other goals of the surge have NOT been met. The Iraqi government is still on the verge of fracturing. They still have no agreement on oil profit distribution which leaves their economy crippled. Thank goodness we are footing their bills.

And the bottom line is that Obama opposed the war to begin with. If there were no war, there would not have been a need for a surge. Obama wanted to end the war then, rather than have a surge, whether it might work or not. He still wants to end the war, regardless of whether it worked or not.

Even if the surge really were a success, we still want out. The surge, and whether it worked or not, is irrelevant. We didn't want it and we don't care who thinks it's working. That's not the debate. The debate is whether or not we, as a country, wish to continue whatever's happening over there.
