With this, they plan to soon release the STUDENT (edited) editions of "Avenue Q", "RENT", and "Sweeney Todd" as well.

What is going on at MUSICAL THEATRE INTERNATIONAL??

Does anyone else think this is strange, or am I alone in this?

Well my old HS just did the World Amateur Premier of Sweeney Todd so that one should be out soon. A student version of Avenue Q was in process but it was deemed impossible because it wouldnt the same show. My old musical theatre teacher was on the creative team.

HSM2....dear god.

They did Avenue Q student edition at Stagedoor Manor and it was so amazing.

Yeah, they didn't cut much at all and it worked awesomely. It's plain to see it can only be done by places with the talent, though. It's not the next Oklahoma haha.

My school right now is in a run for The World Premier of Rent the Student edition! It has been going really well! The cast and crew are awsome( ya my spelling stinks i know that) and we have put a lot of work into it!

Do you feel that RENT has the same nitty-gritty feeling in the student edition? Because that was why I was most afraid it would suck.

The Rent Student Edition premiered a while ago, and it was virutally the same show with Contact gone and some noticable word changes.

Yewww . . . HSM2. I can't believe they're actually making a third one, as well.
A student version of Sweeney Todd? Really?

Its called making money. They produce shows they know will make them a lot of money and HSM 1 made them a ton of money. My friend who works for them said they made more selling the right to that show than any other shows combinded..Good for them to getting on this train. I hate people who think that they are to good for HSM while I don't love it appreciate its place in theatre becaue it is getting people to the theatre who wouldn't normally go!
