My ankle is killing me from just walking a few blocks.
But what is worse is my insurance. Not getting into the details but my insurance sucks.
Anyone?

Posted: 12/1/08 at 10:35pmI had 3 major back surgeries in March, and it still hurts a lot. School makes it every tough, since those little plastic public-school chairs are not the best.

Sorry to hear about your ankle. I have RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) so I am in excrutiatingpain 24/7.I am talking serious pain too not "take a couple aspirin pain", lol actually, I am on so many drugs for the pain its ridiculous. If I don't take them though, I don't move so I have to take them. Its in my right leg, I am unable to work and do anything I used to do. It sucks but you learn to live with it and you do the best you can. I have had it for 8 years now. I find the best thing is too find something to laugh at everyday...it keeps me going.
I hope you feel better soon.

Corine, try hot and cold therapy. Soak your ankle for about 10 minutes in hot water, then put it in cold for about two then back to hot for another ten and another two minute dip in the cold. Do this every hour, it should help.

Corine, make sure the cold water is very cold. Throw a few ice cubes in.

Corine,
There is no quick fix for an ankle fracture. Just a lot of work and effort and yes, pain, to get back to normal and it is a very slow process. I know this from first hand experience.
Since your fracture is relatively new and you are actively in treatment, I'd run alternative treatments past someone at your therapy department to make sure they are appropriate for your specific state of affairs.

If it's really hurting you that much, this late in the game, then you better be seeing other doctors. That's just not right. I broke my ankle several years ago and it hurt for more than a year later - but I knew it was always getting better. There was also a certain satisfaction in knowing exactly why my ankle hurt and knowing that it would eventually get better.
Worse is the rheumatoid arthritis I have now. It hurts constantly, in every joint. My fingers are the most severe and there are times when that pain just won't ease - no matter what you take. Unfortunately this comes with the knowledge that the meds I take are slowing it down, but not eliminating it. It's only going to get worse. So, I try to keep my mind busy and not think about it. Doing that gets you nowhere.
A click for life.

Posted: 12/2/08 at 1:51pmm awaiting surgery right now and I am in terrible pain. Because I have had a gastric bypass I can't take aspirin or drugs such as ibuprofen. I was firm with him about my pain and he was able to find something that wouldnt irritate my stomach . Also, if you are having insurance problems, please feel free to PM me. I worked in health insurance for many years. Feel better.

"Just a lot of work and effort ..."
My hypothesis, or educated guess, is this is where it all falls apart for Corine.

"PAIN. DO YOU HAVE IT AND WHY?"
Yes, every time you post.
Maybe soaking her head would do more for her, than soaking her ankle...

It being winter, I have a dry mouth.
And I don't just mean "oo, my lips are a little bit flaky, teehee", I mean it feels like my entire lower jaw is cracking and bleeding. In fact, I don't think that's even an exaggeration. There has been blood today. Blood and Savlon. Ouchie. ;_;

For some reason, I thought this thread said 'PALIN. Do you have it and why?' Oh, well, same thing.
No, seriously, though? I skinned my elbow sliding across the stage on my stomach when I did a show three weeks ago. It didn't seem like a big deal at the time, and I didn't even notice until I came offstage and realized my costume was soaked with blood. Weirdly, my elbow is STILL bleeding profusely. I'm starting to worry about all the blood loss. It doesn't really hurt, except for when I have bad manners and put my elbow on the table, but it soaks through band-aids like someone turned on a garden hose. It's kinda scary.

Posted: 12/2/08 at 4:07pmI just had mouth surgery for wisdom teeth (yes, everyone has it) and it is definitely hurting me right now. I'm just thankful that it's a relatively short amount of time and I will be good as new soon.

Posted: 12/2/08 at 4:16pmA few years ago, I started having terrible pain in my right knee and hip. I was in a terrible accident as a child that screwed up my back and I figured it probably was yet another symptom from that. But when I had trouble going up stairs, I knew I had to talk to the doctor. Turned out the hip pain was actually caused by my knee. He told me to ice my knee for about 5 minutes three or four times a day, but no more than 5 minutes at a time. I tried it and the pain was gone in just a couple of days. I still get flareups, but icing the knee like that simply does the trick.

I'm not on anything, I just dry up REALLY easily in this weather and I always forget to do something about it until it's too late and I'm bleeding all over the place. (Okay, NOW I'm exaggerating. But there is blood!)

Posted: 12/2/08 at 4:37pmWeez - I can sympathize. My nose dries out and bleeds every winter. When that happens, I end up sleeping with my mouth open, which only makes things worse. I found that a humidifier at home worked wonders. Do you use one?
