No thanks. I'll wait for the Blu-Ray. They are NOT getting my money twice. Disney is NOTORIOUS for this. There is a greed in that company that is beyond any measure. How do you explain the current re-re-re-re-re-release of "Mary Poppins" as a 45th Anniversary 2 Disc Special Edition only a mere 5 years after a 40th Anniversary 2 Disc Edition was produced and then they go ahead and decide NOT to release it on Blu Ray....yet. I have a feeling they'll be releasing "Poppins" to Blu Ray five years from now to commemorate the film's 50th Anniversary.

I got super excited when I sae the thread title (I just adore Pete's Dragon!) but it looks like just a repackaging of the "gold line" dvd.

But I already have an anniversary edition of Bedknobs! Grrrr, what will this version have that mine doesn't? A Disney Sing ALong? I already have the uncut version (with poorly dubbed voices). I can't believe there is no Blu-Ray. Fail!

I really hate it when a DVD I want is released but then they decide to hold off on Blu-Ray. What is the reasoning behind this?

I love Pete's Dragon. I'm sure if I watched it today, I'd think it had issues, but I loved this when I was a kid.

That is so weird. I was just think about Bednobs and Broomsticks last night and thinking how much I would love to have that on DVD.

Pete's Dragon was one of my favorite movies when I was kid. Loved Helen Reddy singing Candle on the Water.

It's sort of odd about holding back on Blu-Ray, especially since they recently started the excellent idea of package the Blu-Ray together with the standard DVD with their classic animated titles, perfect for people like me who don't yet have Blu-Ray, but plan to make the transition.

Buena Vista has announced an 18 August DVD release of Pete's Dragon: High-Flying Edition. This new incarnation of the beloved family classic will arrive with a 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix, newly-discovered demo recordings of a few of the film's songs, stills galleries, featurettes, set-top games and some trailers.
