Pink Floyd Dark Side . . . Help
#0Pink Floyd Dark Side . . . Help
Posted: 12/31/04 at 9:29pmI'm doing a preject here. Can people tell me what they think the 3 most popular songs are on Dark Side of the Moon? Not just your favorite but the 3 that are the most played and popular. Thanks!

Posted: 1/1/05 at 6:22pmI'm probably too late here, but "Great Gig in the Sky" is more popular than "Eclipse"

That's a tough call. I think Gig in the Sky gained popularity during the whole Wizard of Oz tie-in, but I still have to go with Eclipse. I think more people who aren't necessarily Floyd fans would be able to place it as coming from that album. I'm also torn about leaving Brain Damage off of the list. For me, the last four tracks (beginning with Us and Them) are parts of a greater whole. If I were picking what I liked best, Money would be left off the list, but MTV has made it impossible for me to make the argument.
I've seen Pink Floyd live seven, possibly eight, times. Wish they'd come around again (at least the ones who are still talking to each other) while they're still young enough to tour, and before I'm too old to go.

Posted: 1/1/05 at 7:14pmI'm not a Floyd fan but I can immedietly think of the female vocals in 'Great Gig in the Sky'... Nothing comes to mind thinking of the name 'Eclipse' but I'm sure I've heard it.

I'm not arguing, a) because I see your point, and b) because I'm not totally objective. But anyway, here are the words. I'm sure you've heard it, too.
Eclipse
All that you touch
All that you see
All that you taste
All you feel.
All that you love
All that you hate
All you distrust
All you save.
All that you give
All that you deal
All that you buy,
beg, borrow or steal.
All you create
All you destroy
All that you do
All that you say.
All that you eat
And everyone you meet
All that you slight
And everyone you fight.
All that is now
All that is gone
All that's to come
and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon.

time, how could you leave out time? are ya nuts? anyway, i'd peg it based on years and years of listening to classic rock radio stations (i grew up in ohio, so i know the words to all these damn songs through osmosis) as this:
time
money
brain damage

Wow, I never noticed how similar those "Eclipse" lyrics are to U2's "All That You Can't Leave Behind" (I think that's the name)
Has anyone ever done the Wizard of Oz/DSOTM thing?

Posted: 1/1/05 at 10:00pmYep. I tried it, and it's pretty impressive. I'm fairly certain that it's a coincidence, but still...it's quite cool.

Posted: 1/1/05 at 10:03pmI did also last year with several friends. You can even buy dvds where you can choose to play the cd underneath the movie instead of the sountrack I believe, but I could be wrong.

Posted: 1/1/05 at 10:11pmI think it starts to lose coolness points when it arrives pre-packaged.

Posted: 1/1/05 at 11:34pmThanks guys. I will add Great Gig In the Sky to my list and leave Eclipse there still.

Posted: 1/2/05 at 12:07amI've done it twice... the novelty wore off after the first time, but it is a pretty crazy coincidence! I think Rolling Stone ran an article some time ago about other albums that work with it, too, but not as well.
