It's weird. When I saw RENT and the trailer came on, everyone else in the audience got incredibly uncomfortable. You would think the Brokeback Mountain trailer was playing or something. Anyone else experience the same thing?
I really didn't expect that because The Producers looks like one of the best comedies of the year.

Posted: 12/4/05 at 12:15pmI've never seen the trailer in the theaters, only online, so I actually haven't been with people watching it...but everyone I know who has seen the trailer says it looks great, and I like the trailer a lot!

Wait a minute.
You asked me in an IM if it's serious, and now you say it looks like one of the best comedies of the year.
You're confusing me!

Posted: 12/4/05 at 12:18pmWhen I first saw it in theaters (RENT-Nov. 23), there was laughing and stuff. And afterward, I started clapping, then my friend did, and then some people a few rows ahead of did. No awkwardness...

Lots of clapping. Lots of cheering.
Brokeback Mountain on the other hand was uncomfortable for the audience, I assume since everyone was laughing loudly..nervously. Kind of weird going into a movie about AIDS-ridden transvestites BUT HEY.

I have seen the trailer a few times and it always gets laughs. I doubt anyone gets uncomfortable. What are you trying to do? Create some rent vs producers thing?

Posted: 12/4/05 at 3:34pmTrue. But I am still curious as to why the orignal poster said the audience was uncomfortable. Uncomfortable with what?

Posted: 12/4/05 at 3:59pmPeople in my theatre loved it. They were still talking about it when the movie (Rent) started. And there was no reaction to the other two trailers (Brokeback Mountain and Memoirs of a Geisha).

For me, the Brokeback Mountain trailer came right before it, and the audience was dead silent. Then The Producers came on, and people started relaxing. The shot of Gary Beach as Hitler won them over, and they seemed to enjoy the rest of the trailer.
I, for one, am greatly looking forward to both movies.
