old news. and placidyl wasn't a pain reliever, it was a sedative/hypnotic (and damn dangerous stuff indeed, he's lucky he didn't kill himself on it). cbs' sensationalized version of the story is laughable considering that his drug use was reported all the way back in 1982 by the washington post. the story was out there for anyone who wanted to see it, read about it or publicize it, but cbs asks, "wouldn't you have wanted to know about this?" well, gee, some of us did.
oh, and at what point between 1972 and 1981 was it a 5-4 court? seriously, i'm not a supreme court scholar.
