It's not just any concert... take a look at the poster:

Brilliant! God, love him for that poster!!
I only hope he sits on the edge of the stage and sings the "Born in a Trunk" medley.
Seriously, this guy needs to write a Broadway show... Now.
I'll be there. With any luck, the marriage proposal should come right around the time of "Zing! Went the Strings of my Heart."

Best12bars... I so agree with you there, when i first heard, Oh What A World from Want One i immediately thought theatre. The structure and form of that song is magnificent...
He's kind of skeevy, though.
I know someone who moved through the same gay social circle for awhile.
Still, I love his albums and I think this is a great idea to perform that.

As another website put it: "This will be, by far, the gayest crowd ever collected in Carnegie Hall, except when Liberace rehearsed alone."

Ha! That's classic, Joe. And oh so true.
Rufus Wainwright is incredible! Instant Pleasure, Shadows, Poses, all of them, are such great songs.
That poster is a duplicate of a Judy Garland poster.
You can see it at www.gawker.com
I think he used to be skeevy (admitted to c. meth addiction) but he's cleaned up now. I saw him open for Tori Amos a few years ago and it was a MESS.
This should be a great show. "Dinner at Eight" is a favourite song of mine.
I love Rufus. I'm so there.

I saw Rufus in concert just before Christmas. He was amazing. Such a distinctive vocal sound and the show was pure theatre. Hope we get him back across the pond before too long.

I'd love to see him back in Canada, too!
Um...Love4Cheno - let me walk you through this.
That poster is a duplicate of the Judy Garland poster, because Rufus will actually be performing the entire 1961 Judy concert. Clever, right?!
The advance-sale tickets are already sold out. Pride Agenda tickets are $1000 and $300. General admission goes on sale 3/27.
Is this going to be some kind of must-see?
Wait- he's performing the entire Judy concert? Interesting. I wasn't planning on going, so I didn't reasearch what this was all about.

Not much research involved, Cheno. It says so right on the poster!
I am there. I saw him over the summer at Wolf Trap and all of a sudden he said something about it being hot and telling everyone to take their jackets off to show off the naked cowboys. The audience was very confused until they noticed that when he took his jacket off, he revealed a vest with naked cowboys on it. Gotta love Rufus.
Good think he and Judy have the same fan base because you won't be able to understand any of the words to the songs with Rufus performing them.

Tickets went on sale to the general public yesterday and I scored a very good pair of prime parquet seats. They're going fast, so if you want to go I suggest ordering ASAP. Should be a blast (and more than a little campy).

Aww, gotta love Rufus, he's such an attention whore. My grandma lived next to his mom and aunt for years and years.

Oh, I love Rufus. I really wish I lived closer and could afford to go. Those of you going will have to post a thread about it afterwards.
Another overrated gay entertainer who attracts the same shrieky gay crowd who go to Kiki and Herb, Anthony Rapp, and other C-list performers.
Two and a half hours of whining ["Sa-a-a-a-a-n Fra-a-a-a-a-ancisco. . . "] by this limp bizkit.
I'd rather see Eminem sing "Funny Girl".
Just bought 2 and all that's left is rear balcony.
I got rear balcony seats. A little far but I'm not complaining.
This is going to be QUITE an event!
A second date for June 15th has been added due to popular demand. It still seems the 14th isn't quite sold out. I'm waiting on a boy to decide which of the dates I'll be attending but this looks like a fun time.
And B12B, I know he's performing the album but, dear god, how I hope his tribute is more along the lines of what you suggested in your post.

Oh please. He's very far from overrated, given that he is enormously talented. And your other comments are plain ridiculous. Clearly you have not seen any of your three examples live in concert or you'd know the crowd they attract is very far from shrieky.
