SNL 1/31

Posted: 2/2/09 at 5:56pmIt was so so. Steve Martin did this slightly bizarre but kinda fun bluegrass tune with his band. it just went on a bit too long. Jason Mraz was good.

Yes, who is that, unca?
I saw parts of it, but I was dozing on and off.

Do you not recognize the dashing Norm Lewis, Stockard? (End fangirly threadjack... after this picture...)

Posted: 2/2/09 at 6:36pmI laughed my ass off at Angelina Jolie on Update! That was worth watching the show for.

Posted: 2/2/09 at 6:40pmThe show was okay, but I only watched it for Jason Mraz. Who was great by the way!

Posted: 2/2/09 at 10:25pmShow was a huge disappointment- except for Jason Mraz- he sounded amazing live!

I hate Jason Mraz. He's so douchey.
I loved the edible diaper commercial.

Just as I suspected. When I saw that Steve Martin was going to host, I could only think of two things:
1) Again?!?
2) They are probably going to rehash some of the old jokes that he did from the previous episodes that he hosted.
I'm glad I didn't catch the episode.
I'm just surprised that SNL is not using more of a variety of guests to host. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought John Belushi back from the dead to host! (May he rest in peace.)

It was horrible.
Worst episode I've seen in a while, and SNL's been putting out some clunkers lately. Too much Andy Samberg, I tell you ... he belongs nowhere near comedy...
When the funniest sketch is about a Steve Martin-centric orgy, you know it's a really, really bad day.

Jason Mraz was incredible! I went to his concert in October and he puts on an amazing show.
The rest of the show was insanely boring. I liked the Angelina Jolie part though.

Jason Mraz really was great. He is obviously a very good live performer. I wasn't that big of a fan before even though I have his last album..I am a bigger fan of his now.
I love how most female cast members of SNL can sing, as if it's a requirement to be on the show. I hated that dumb ass crush on Steve Martin sketch, but I could listen to those girls sing for hours.

Posted: 2/3/09 at 3:33amWell..back on topic (LOL)...Norm is King Triton in The Little Mermaid. I met him while it was trying out in Denver and fell in love with him!

The show was probably one of the worst episodes ever.
I LOVE JASON MRAZ! He's incredible live. I've seen him probably 5 times live. When Steve Martin did his new (horrible and stupid) banjo song, I thought we were only going to get that one performance from JM. I'm glad we got another. His duet with Colbie Caillat is currently one of my favorite songs.

Posted: 2/3/09 at 7:28amNow that the election is over, you can pretty much bet than this show has returned to its previous state of lameness. Once Tina left, the rest of the writers were exposed to be mediocre at best.

Posted: 2/3/09 at 9:15amI think that Lorne Michaels is still hoping that Andy Samberg will have another "chronicles of narnia" in him. it doesn't seem to be the case thus far

I think the writing has improved greatly since Tina Fey's departure. I really enjoy 30 Rock, but I'm glad I never have to sit through another one of her smug Weekend Updates, where schoolmarn Fey would chastise us when her stupid jokes didn't land.
Also, I don't get the issue with Steve Martin hosting. He had a movie to promote. What's the big deal?

Posted: 2/3/09 at 3:49pmThe closest Andy Samberg has gotten to a hit "Short" latley is "Jizz In My Pants", which was in reality meant to be a music video for "The Lonley Island" and they handed it to Lorne who premired it on the show.
