Police say The View on Eighth Avenue, Club Deep on West 22nd Street, Avalon on West 20th, Splash on 17th Street were all closed because of the sale of illegal drugs, such as cocaine and ecstasy.

Awww...poor tweaker queens. Gonna have to peddle the crackstasy somewhere else.
Boo. Hoo. Boohoo.
(And if you've been to one Musical Mondays, you've been to them all...how many damn times does one NEED to see Effie tell Curtis he was supposed to love her, anyway?)
#5re: SPLASH CLOSED?!
Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:08pmNot just Splah. Four gay bars were raided last night.

Oh, honey, please, I *earned* that sh*t. I went to MM almost EVERY week for two years (mostly because I was dragged by my best friend Parker, though), before I staged a self-intervention and got my life back. :-P
Besides, I *over*qualify for my gay card in other areas, so I'm allowed a few points off here and there...

Okay, keep the card. It probably has traces of the
"illegal drugs, such as cocaine and ecstasy" left on it anyways. (you WERE a regular, apparently)

Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:13pmSilly gurl...I would never use my *own* card for that!
#9re: SPLASH CLOSED?!
Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:20pmSo that's where it came from. You told me you just had to jimmy open a door.

Well I'm certainly not going to pull a Whitney and tell the world, now am I?
(And I *did* have to jimmy open a door...eventually.)
#11re: SPLASH CLOSED?!
Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:25pmSo whats fun and theatrical on mondays? its my night off.
#12re: SPLASH CLOSED?!

The real issue here is that, as usual, all the bars targeted appear to be gay bars or, in the case of Avalon, a mostly gay audience.
#13re: SPLASH CLOSED?!
Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:29pmWell, darling, you know there's absolutely no drug activity going on in straight clubs. Just square dancing and bingo.
#15re: SPLASH CLOSED?!
Posted: 4/1/06 at 4:33pmTry Marie's.

Then I don't know what to tell you. Stay home and listen to your cast recordings while acting out your favorite scenes in a showercap...I don't know.
It's New York...find something to do. MM is not the be-all and end-all of entertainment. There are amazing concerts happening in Lincoln Center this Monday, concerts and recitals at Carnegie Hall; there is also tons of theatre going on downtown.

Didn't Britney Spears play some of her music there before she released her CD a couple years back? I totally remember her talking about SPLASH on MTV.
Just a fun fact...thing...memory?

Yup she did when her last album came out. She did a show on MTv where she stopped at different clubs in NYC and Splash was one of them.
I think they are back open so all the Musical Monday fans can rest easy.
