Three-judge panel just ruled that Libby "has not shown that the appeal raises a substantial question" and must report to jail pending appeal.

His only possible hopes: (1) the Supreme Court intervenes or (2) Bush pardons him.

At this point, I would not put a pardon beyond Bush.

His polling is so low, he cannot fall much further.

It would be a shame, but not too surprising.

Supreme Court will step in Bush will pardon him. I hope there is a riot if he's pardoned! By the way, I love that look on his face! Great pic!

First you were wrong on Gonzales.

Now you are wrong on Scooter.

What has happened to all your sources in the White House, Pal?

My sources in the White House have been pushing for a pardon, not just this commutation.

However, dipSH*T, they have also been pushing for Bush to accept Gonzales's resignation.

So they're 1-for-1.

They say this commutation is only step 1.

The full pardon comes in December 2008.

Let's talk about Scooter's face. Does anybody know what combination protocol he's on and how long he's been on it?

I'm thinking highly active anti-retroviral therapy. And more power to him. People on it are living longer and healthier lives in the face of what was once a death sentence.

Oh puhleeze Louise! Whenever Bush does something disgusting and reprehensible, you creepy people go "Clinton! Clinton! Clinton was worse!" AS IF THAT MAKES GEORGE BUSH GOOD!?!?!?!

If you want to compare pardons why don't we just wait to see how many Bush pardons when his term is up.

Hmmm?

I notice that you did not challenge the fact that Clinton pardoned 170 people on his last day.

How soon we forget.

"I notice that you did not challenge the fact that Clinton pardoned 170 people on his last day."

Interesting how when someone takes a page from your own book, in this case not answering a question, you are suddenly all about wondering why? But, when a question is asked of you it's all about deflection. Is it a double standard HD, or is it just your hypocrisy shining through?

HD, you explain this and then we'll talk about Clinton. Til then, I don't want to here you justify Libby's pardon (and thats what I am calling it because we all know its gonna eventually happen)

George Bush Sr. Pardoned Casper Weinberger and five others who sold weapons to Iran. HD, you cater the facts to fit your agenda. Bush's Dad pardoned people who betrayed and sold out this country and your okay with that. Clinton pardoned 170 people. I bet you know nothing about those 170, only Marc Rich, who Scooter Libby use to work for by the way. So, how can you excuse Libby but hold Marc Rich in such a negative light? Marc Rich is also a BIG time Republican, but I doubt you knew that. Just wait til Bush's pardons come in January 2009. I pray to God Pal Joey resurects this thread and gloats like you do HD. Although, that would would mean he would have to be petty, immature, and totally clueless about 'how things work' and we all here know thats not him. Hd, do I need to start posting pictures again so you understand? I know my words sometimes loose you.

Bush isn't the First one

BUSH PARDONS WEINBERGER, FIVE OTHERS TIED TO IRAN-CONTRA

(Calls Weinberger "true American patriot") (650) By Dian McDonald USIA White House Correspondent Washington -- President Bush December 24 granted pardons to former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and five other individuals for their conduct related to the Iran-Contra affair.

Bush said Weinberger -- who had been scheduled to go on trial in Washington January 5 on charges related to Iran-Contra -- was a "true American patriot," who had served with "distinction" in a series of public positions since the late 1960s.

"I am pardoning him not just out of compassion or to spare a 75-year-old patriot the torment of lengthy and costly legal proceedings, but to make it possible for him to receive the honor he deserves for his extraordinary service to our country," Bush said in a proclamation granting executive clemency.

Fitzgerald's statement

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/nation/pdf/libby_p...

“We fully recognize that the Constitution provides that commutation decisions are
a matter of presidential prerogative and we do not comment on the exercise of that
prerogative.

We comment only on the statement in which the President termed the sentence
imposed by the judge as “excessive.” The sentence in this case was imposed
pursuant to the laws governing sentencings which occur every day throughout this
country. In this case, an experienced federal judge considered extensive argument
from the parties and then imposed a sentence consistent with the applicable laws.
It is fundamental to the rule of law that all citizens stand before the bar of justice as
equals. That principle guided the judge during both the trial and the sentencing.

Although the President’s decision eliminates Mr. Libby’s sentence of imprisonment,
Mr. Libby remains convicted by a jury of serious felonies, and we will continue to
seek to preserve those convictions through the appeals process.”

"Do you any of you knwo the crime of which Scooter Libby was convicted?"

I DO, I DO!!!

Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted for lying to investigators looking into the leak of a CIA operative's identity. He also was fined $250,000. Libby was convicted on four counts in a five-count indictment alleging perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements to FBI investigators.
