new game: i need to plan a vacation for me and my partner for the week between christmas and new year's and need your help.
i want to keep the cost somewhat reasonable ($1,500-$2,000) per person, but other than that there are no rules.
i generally don't like "structured" vacations like cruises or hurry up and wait vacations like disney but other than that, the sky is the limit.
(oh yeah, if you say "go to hell" you automatically lose)
any ideas?
Robb, do you live in NYC? I can't remember...
Come to DC for the gathering we are having. Not only will there be fun and crazy BWW people but there is the national Christmas tree to see, plus all the history and patriotism of being in our nation's capitol. Stay outside of DC for more affordable hotel rates and just take Metro into the city.
just off the top of my head...
Paris is always wonderful no matter when you go...
Palm Springs for some desert warmth
Whistler in BC if you guys ski
Costa Rica
Berlin is always fun and if you go before the 25th you can go to the Christmas Markets!
Rome would be great that week
Madrid is another great city....
I LOVE planning vacations!
Go to hell! Ooops, oh damn!
ALASKA
It's actually Fort Liquordale to those of us in the know.
But, I vote for the Abacos (the out islands of the Bahamas).
my bedroom? (just kidding)
My vote goes to Florida or California.
Check out Atlantis on Paradise Island - it's beautiful.

Puerto Vallarta or Los Cabos.
Warm and cheap.
Mexico is the only place I've been that I came home with money. Other than silver, there isn't a whole lot to buy.
wow, so many great suggestions with the exception of cm2 (to punish you, i'm not gonna go to your birthplace of australia).
thanks, and keep 'em coming.
I second (oops... third) Costa Rica. You can fly there prolly for about $500-$600 from NYC. Nice hotels are not that expensive, and if you look you can find beach rentals for about $1000 for the week. It is getting a bit late to plan a vacation for the week between Xmas and New Year's, though, since most of the country is on vacation that week and everyone goes to the beach.
If you seriously consider CR, let me know. My brother and sister are both involved in tourism back home. I can hook you up.
Palm Springs is wonderful that week, of course I love it all 52 weeks of the year, but I love having a sunny Xmas. Depending on what kind of hotel you want to stay at, PM me...my partner works for one of the large gay ones in the Warm Sands area.
Los Cabos is good, but Cabo San Lucas is so touristy, San Jose del Cabo is so much nicer
I say go somewhere warm......
San Diego would be nice then, too.
and moony, that' s the beauty of this. not only do you get rid of me for about 10 days, but if you pick the right destination, i may never come back (either through falling in love with the place, or if you send me to a place like beirut, i just might not live to make it back....)
Prague. Expensive to get there, but everything is cheap once you're there.
Do we get paid for this?
Costa Rica is on my list too...I know you're trying to plan in advance, but check out site59.com--great deals, but mostly for short-notice travel
Come to Poland and have a truly COLD christmas.
Is is just me, but as an Australian, who would want a hot christmas?!?!?!?!?
I love Pennsylvania. Why would you want to leave there?
