Anyone else get excited for this annual summer tradition? It begins tonight at 9 on the Discovery Channel with, "Blood in the Water" which documents the 1916 NJ attacks that ultimately inspired Jaws. My dad grew up in Matawan (about 15 minutes from where I grew up), which is where the creek that the shark swam into is.

As a Jersey native, this one fascinates me a lot, especially after reading the fabulous book about these attacks, 12 Days of Terror."

Shark Week always, without fail, falls on the same week I go with my family to the beach. I'm not going this year, so it will be the first time I actually watch. re: Shark Week 2009

Dman! This is one of the rare instances I wish I still had a TV. I sometimes miss Discovery, especially their annual SHARK WEEK. Any way to watch it online?

I have been watching all day. Taking a break while the Myth Busters are on. Back to it when "Blood in the Water" comes on. (The song from Legally Blonde keeps rolling through my head!)

They have a lot of footage online, StageManager, but I don't think the actual episodes are up yet. I'm sure they will be after they air.

Right now they're replaying most of last year's shows, with 9:00 being the "official" start to the week.

Note to self: Don't do pasta with a red sauce for dinner while watching Shark Week.

I grew up and live only 8 miles from Matawan, and I never knew about these attacks. I missed the first half of it tonight. I hope it shows up online.

I hung out with Cheyenne Jackson in his dressing room waayyyyyy before he tickled D2.

I didn't know these attacks were the inspiration for the movie. i even poked around on the web and didn't find anything. Not to impressed with this "Blood in the Water" thing.

Actors that appear in re-enactments always crack me up because of how bad they are. Where do they find these people??

I don't know, adam, but that is so true! I used to watch America's Most Wanted just to laugh at the acting in the reinactments. Well, maybe not just for them. I actually kind of like that crap.

I'm trying to get Henry to turn it on, but he's watching Dr. Doolittle on the Cartoon Network.

Tonight was great! Am now watching the one where the sharks are tearing the dead whale apart on Seal Island. That guy sitting on the whale taking pictures is crazy! Deadly Waters was good!

That man sitting on the whale carcass was completely nuts.

Tomorrow seems interesting...they're documenting the 2001 "Summer of the Sharks."

There was something wrong with Discovery ch last night. It kept freezing up. It was the only station doing that..and the only one we wanted to watch re: Shark Week 2009
