Ok, guys, once again I need your help ! I want to get some new DVDs to watch in the summer when I'll have plenty of free time and I have read raves about Veronica Mars. I don't know the show, since it never aired here in Greece, but it seems interesting. I've read the main theme and the main story online and it sounds good. Should I get it or will it be a waste of money ? For your information about my tastes, my favorite shows include Desperate Housewives, Lost, CSI, Cold Case, Prison Break and 24. Will I like Veronica ? Any help appreciated (but no spoilers please)

I bought, but have not watched yet. I would suggest, however, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' or 'Gilmore Girls'

Thanks ! Well, Buffy never really appealed to me and from what I've heard (never watched it) isn't the Gilmore Girls too teen-oriented ? I am in my 30s re: Should I buy Veronica Mars: Season 1 on DVD ??

I thought the same thing about 'Buffy' - and it never appealed to me. Then I rented the first season and was hooked. I thought it was too teenish, and stupid - I could not be more wrong. Trust me on this one.

As for 'The Gilmore Girls' - it is about the 2 of them, so Lorelai is dealing with the adult stuff, and Rory the teen stuff.

And 'Veronica Mars' does take place in high school, I believe.

And, I am also in my 30's (just turned 39). Started watching 'Buffy" about 3 years ago (after it had gone off the air).

Yes, I read that Veronica takes place in High School, but what appealed to me, is that I read that, after school, she is trying to discover a murderer and dirty secrets about her neighbors, hehehe.
But thanks again for your help !

I think Veronica and Buffy are very similar shows. I think you'd enjoy both.

Ok, so Veronica has Vampires too ??? I am sure I never read such a hint anywhere re: Should I buy Veronica Mars: Season 1 on DVD ?? My perception is that it's like a younger Housewives style of show with more mystery and drama !
And etoile, I trust your judgement !

There are no vampires. Only the best character and plot development of ANY show on TV.

There are 20 millions ways for me to tell you to buy this DVD, but I'll let it speak for itself.

BUY VERONICA MARS!!!!!!!!!!!

It is serioiusly my favorite tv show of all time.

VERONICA MARS IS AWESOME.

She does not act like you're typical high school student and the show's plots are riveting. Seriously the best on TV.

Veronica Mars is a fun, smart, often very hilarious, engaging television show. Brillianty written and acted. It is by no means a standard teen soap. I highly, HIGHLY recommend that you get the Season 1 DVD and see for yourself. Best show on tv.

I vote for Netflix! I do it every summer while there's not much on TV and to catch up with shows I wish I had previously watched. I don't find that I watch TV DVD's over and over again like movies, and Netflix has tons of them.

(But wait a few days, because I'm waiting on season 1 disc 2 from them right now. ) re: Should I buy Veronica Mars: Season 1 on DVD ??

Yes, I've heard how great Netflix is ! But, unfortunately, we don't get it in Greece re: Should I buy Veronica Mars: Season 1 on DVD ?? I do have satellite/cable TV and can watch most English channels that carry great US shows, but I have never seen Veronica there. I don't think it was shown in England and it definetely never aired in Greece. So, my only chance for some shows is DVD ! And actually, Veronica Mars is the first show that intrigued me into buying, without having ever seen one single episode !
