Ok so I have a callback for Parade as the character Mary Phagan and I'm not sure whether or not to use the accent when I sing her songs. I was planning on using it, but whats everyone else's opinion?

I'd say prepare it both ways and ask them when you walk into the audition. Callbacks are also about how you work with the director, so asking a few good questions is a good thing and shows you are receptive.

When you're getting ready at the audition, make a few discreet enguiries with other auditionees, if noone else is doing it then yeah. You've already done the hard part getting narrowed down, now you've really got to stand out from everyone else. If you show you can do the accent confidently it's another plus point, and one less skill the coaches will have to work on in rehearsals. I say go for it and show 'em how totally awesomw you are!

Well I had the callback last night! None of my friends were planning on doing it, but I went first. I had asked the director when we walked in, and he said well..since you're going to need it in the show, we might as well hear how it sounds...
So i used it, and they call us tomorrow!!! AHH.
