oh Dottie, Haleakela is nothing......you need to try the road from Kahalui to Lahaina on Maui, but not the normal way, rather the northern way around the island....I almost lost it in the one lane parts

the one with tunnels look like the road on the Amalfi Coast....not fun.

mo morning commute is horrific. I have to actually walk across the hall (from the bedroom) and into my office, hoping I am not run over by Devil Cat......

Elphaba, I know the drive you're talking about, and thankfully we decided not to do it. I was especially grateful as I was the only one doing the driving!!

Ah yes, try the Amalfi Coast drive in a bus!!

Dottie, try being the little car facing the bus on the Amalfi Coast.
I did no friving on that trip. So we leave Sorrento with the car (we were staying in Praiano) to find Praiano, and Steve see's the Positano sign (I'm yelling no) as it's the middle of the day and I knew that there was only one way and out of Positano, and he takes the car down there, and it is SO crowded, that as the car is moving at about 2 miles and hour it is literally pushing people out of the way.

That drive around the north part of Maui was stunning, unless you have locals behind you trying to speed you up, and then it turns one lane, and there is a total tourist jerk, who had rented a van, and is too scared to move. The locaks went nuts yelling at him, and finally he did.

It is best that I only drive on freeways when out of the US, since (for example) me driving in Bern almost split us up......damn cobblestones.
