Ok I'm posting this here because this board is more alive and people know me better here. I just thought, for the hell of it, what big Celebs do you want to see do star turns on BWAY and what shows do you honestly think they could handle?

Personally I'd love to see
Robin Williams-Max in Producers
John Goodman-Edna in Hairspray
David Schwimmer or Matthew Perry-Leo in Producers (Curb inspired but still)
CZJ-Velma in Chicago

anyways you get the idea. Add yours, I'll add more when I think of it. Oh but please lets not play the old Carol Channing as Elphaba game. Rediculous names and what not. Try it for real or whatever. Maybe I'm just this bored at work today.

Magnum, i used to post about Goodman as Edna a while ago! i'd love to see that. i'm old enough to remember him in the original BIG RIVER. He's a great singer, and wonderful when he does the Blues Brothers stuff.

i'd like to see Whoopi in another musical, maybe in a role with some serious elements (not just comedy and ad-libbing). i'd like to see an original role for Bernadette or Audra.

Dixie Carter in "Coco"
Brenda Blethyn "The Glass Menagerie"
Matthew Broderick & Sarah Jessica Parker in "Days of Wine and Roses"
Kelsey Grammer & Mercedes Ruehl in "The Prisoner of Second Avenue"

Faye Dunaway in SUNSET BOULEVARD, just to see what all the drama was about...

I would actually like to see Mandy Moore do something. I know, I know, bad pop stars...but she's certainly the best of that crop of teenybopper talent and I would shell out a few bucks to see if she can handle it.

She was mentioned for something last season as a replacement, I believe....she even went to the show a few times, but I forget what it was.

I think that was just a big ol' fat rumor.
But I'd actually go see her in this show.
If we could remember what it was.

the pop tart i'd like to see in a B'way musical is Brittany Murphy. She's a mess, but she can act.

Mandy Moore as Belle
Jim Carrey as Dr. Frank 'N' Furter
Jennifer Connelly as Maggie the Cat
Julianne Moore as Hedda Gabler
Usher Raymond as Ren McCormack
Christian Bale as Stanley Kowalski
Brittany Murphy as Charity Hope Valentine
Renee Zellweger as Sally Bowles
Nicole Kidman as Alma Winemiller

More to come...

Not usually a fan of the Mandy, because I feel like she'd try to take on roles she couldn't do, but I'm liking the Belle idea.

Bale as Stanley?

no no no

Usher? Was it necessary to type "raymond?" I hate him...

I think Bale would be great.

As for Usher, I'm a fan and I always instinctively type his last name. If you want, I'll remove it.

I think Christian Bale is ALL wrong for Stanley.

And I despise Usher with a passion, but I've said that.

I want to see Clive Owen play Henry Higgins.

i'd rather see Clive in SLEUTH, with a hot older guy.

As for Higgins, there is quite a wish list, and scuttlebutt has it that ANOTHER B'way revival is imminent.

Kelsey Grammer
Patrick Stewart
Roger Rees (who has done it regionally)
Tim Curry
Anthony Hopkins

As for "born to play it" semi-names, i'd like to see Kevin Spacey as MACK to someone's MABEL (Chenowith jumps to mind).

The good news about Brittany Murphy is that she can really sing, too. When the Bernadette GYPSY was on the way, I was thinking she'd be a fabulous Louise.

Brittany Murphy would probably be good in The Cradle Will Rock as well.

There is such melodrama on these boards today that we could put on an entire evening of solely star turns right here.

i remember a NY Times article on Brittany Murphy where one of her early acting teachers in NYC said she had nearly perfect pitch. i just find her really flexible. Love her voice work on KING OF THE HILL.

"Love her voice work on KING OF THE HILL."

"Hey Aint Peggy, Hey Uncle Hank."
(She also voiced Joseph for a couple of seasons).

I also liked her in Riding in Cars with Boys

"My daughter the tramp".
