Leave it to the Brits to know how to throw a street party.

Could you imagine if we'd tried that here when Reagan died?
It's been interesting listening to the BBC tonight reporting about this. Everyone's trying to be oh so nice to everyone involved, from her most adamant supporters to the folks in the photos shown.
Much as I hate to say it, it wouldnt be Reagan that would inspire this kind of reaction. Bush Jr's passing is more likely to get it.

And I hate to agree. Reagan's image has been galvanized by the right, making him some sort of folk hero, even to people whose lives he ruined. Reagan's legacy wouldn't have survived the internet and 24/7 news cycle, but it was already entrenched in the minds of many Americans. Perhaps with the passing of time, as well as the passing of that generation, historians will look back at the Reagan years with open, analytical eyes and see it for what it really was.
2 parties. One for W. one for Cheney.

You really think Cheney is capable of dying? I assume he's going to end up like that old folktale of the man who ends up wandering the marshes luring people to their deaths because he gets turned away from both heaven and hell.
Bush has probably got another 20+ years left in him. It'll be even more emotional distance than was between Watergate and Nixon when he died.

I find this so negative and of such distaste...
