The Al Hirschfeld (Martin Beck) Theater

I have a presentation tonight on the Al Hirschfeld Theater (formerly the Martin Beck). At the present moment, my presentation is horrible. You see, I am not allowed to cite internet resources. There are no books in my school's pathetic library that mention Martin Beck, Al Hirschfeld, or the theater. (I mentioned this to my instructor last week... I won't type the story, but will simply say that there was no good way for me to solve this problem). Therefore, the only information I'm able to use is what I already know, or what I know from interviewing people.
So, if any of you happens to know anything important or interesting about the theater (or either of the men) please let me know.
Thanks!
(P.S. Is it legal for me to print out A.H. drawings from the internet? And if so, do you think that it would be alright for me to use those printed drawings in the presentation despite the "no internet sources" clause?)

I'd be willing to do enough Internet research to be considered an expert, at which time you can cite me. I'll be back in 3 minutes.

Checked Playbill for Wonderful Town.
No history.
Thanks for trying. :)
I'm thinking of calling the box office...
Do you think they'd be of any help?
Or would I just annoy them?

I don't think the box office would be any help. If anything I'd call the theatre owner's office to see if they have any references for you. Jujamcyn Theaters: 212-840-8181
I'm sure you've found the site below, but it might have some artifacts to point you in the direction of something physical:

Posted: 3/1/05 at 3:02amtry to get a book called AT THIS THEATRE which is culled from that long running Playbill column. It may be in one of your local library's collection. The men may also appear in the right encyclopedia or Who's Who in the American Theatre at local libraries. There is undoubtedly Hirschfield collections of drawings in book form at some library near you. If not, use microfiche back copies of the NY Times to print out some for showing, thus getting around the WWW ban.
