I know a handful of people here are going to be taking the Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams for Biology in the near future. (I'm lucky
enough to get to take both) I thought we ought to have a thread to help us study and procrastinate on bww at the same time.
I'm also requesting that this remain on the Off-Topic board and not be moved to the student one where nobody will see it.
So, to kick-start the review session, a few easy ones:
1) What is a transpoon? A retro transpoon?
2) If two organisms are in the same phylum, what other clade do they have in common?
3) What six elements are found in all life forms?
4) What is DNA composed of?
5) How many nucleotides make up a codon?
6) What is the function of an activator protein?
And because I really, really need help on this one:
What happens on the electron transport chain?
Actually, since I'm HL, I don't have to take it until next year, but every little bit helps.
This is my baby.

Oh, I'm jealous. I have to take it this Thursday AND Friday.
You have an actual book for IB bio? We just use the AP one.
If you really feel so inclined, you can quiz me anyway. I'm getting nervous about it.
Hah, and it's moved.
Mmkay. A transposon is...a mobile segment of DNA that helps with genetic change. A retro transposon like...moves within the genome? Or something.
Okay, so the ETC: An electron moves down the chain...yup. And it's met at the end by oxygen...oy.
I know stuff about plants. I promise I know something! I also know about DNA replication!
Answer to #5: three!
#3: Carbon, uh...carbon...nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, umm...

Heh. I'm taking 4 exams this year, but I could never take AP science. I'm awful at it. Just thought I'd throw that in. Good luck! Tomorrow I am taking AP Calc BC.
