Mandy Moore...not Kristin Chenoweth.
I was one of those who thought Cheno's voice wasn't right for a princess, but I'm not particularly happy with Disney's choice of Mandy Moore. Why couldn't they have stayed in the Broadway vein? They were doing so well, casting so many Broadway actors/singers in Princess and the Frog!
I like Mandy for Rapunzel.
Yeah, I wasn't too keen on Krstin's voice, either. It grates after awhile. She has the voice for a cute sidekick animal, not a princess, IMO.

Dearie me, I was hoping it would have been Zoe Caldwell.
This could be interesting. I do like Kristin Chenoweth, but I do agree that her voice seems a little high pitched for a princess. Her singing voice would be fine, but speaking, not so much.
Good. I like Mandy Moore's singing voice
Dagnabbit...I had Charo in the pool.
Charo already had her day in the animated sun.

I'm not totally against the idea of Mandy Moore playing Rapunzel but I was really gunning for Cheno. I feel like her voice is perfect for a spunky Disney heroine.
Believe it or not I'd be interested in seeing Chenoweth play a villain, not necessarily in Rapunzel but in another project. With the right character it could be amazing.

Is Reese Witherspoon still doing the speaking voice?
I thought it was gonna be Ellen.

"Is Reese Witherspoon still doing the speaking voice? "
Nope. That hasn't been the plan for awhile. She is voicing the lead in Pixar's first princess movie, "The Bear and the Bow"
............................................ what.
Sigh. I wish this whole trend of casting celebrities for animated parts would just die. It's so stupid. I'd bet extremely few people go to see animated films so they can *hear* some star's voice, the high salary that goes to those stars becomes an unnecessary cost, and it deprives talented voice artists and lesser known actors of parts.
Amy Adams would have also been another good choice.
I was hoping for Pamela Winslow.

I wanted Chenoweth to do the role simply because it would have been nice to have a Disney princess with some operatic pipes.
Mary Costa did an excellent job voicing Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, she may only speak through half the movie, but her vocals are still outstanding and in my opinion there's been no Princess who's voice came that close.
I love the idea of Cheno as a Disney villain. I kind of see her in the more batty vein of, like, Madame Mim from The Sword in the Stone.
one Broadway actress I am DYING to have voice a villain is Patti LuPone. I doubt she'd ever do it, but it'd be amazing.
