...you cannot get by doing anything else. By the time your show opens, the cast/crew is a family. They make you smile and care for you as one of their own. It just makes me so sad when a show closes. Your family has to be broken up. You just grow a bond (become a 'team) that any sports team could never feel. It just makes me cry when I think of how greatful I am to have found my interest of theatre. Does anybody else love that feeling? In the show that I just did, the youngest performer was 7 and the oldest was 77. I really cannot describe how it feels inside of you. People just have to experience it for themselves...I am sure many of you have. If you haven't, theatre is not for you.

BwayTheatre11, that was beautiful, and I agree. For me, there is NOTHING like theatre.

"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."

Beautifully said, and I know what you mean. My first show was The Wizard of Oz and we all bonded and became this big family. Sadly, afterwards, the bond was severed between most of us re: There is something you get from theatre that... That's whats happened in every show I've done. It's just a temporary family until it's over. Sad but true becuse I always think I'm making good friends but then I turn out to be wrong. -Penny

That's why one should always beware of the production romances re: There is something you get from theatre that...

It's good that you have had this experience. However, there is also the opposite. I've seen people who hate each other and deliberately try and be mean to the other person (even while on stage). Things like changing blocking, etc are manifested to be rude and hateful to another person.

Additionally, I've seen many actors who are rude to backstage workers and then turn around and call their behavior "artistic temperament".

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Awww Bway, I totally agree. I love it. The bonds created between cast members (and I've experienced 99% good ones) are incredible, even if they break after the shows over. I LOVE my theater friends :)

I agree with Gothampc, you guys are very lucky to have that happen in every show. In my last show, it was a disaster- won't get into it, but it was.

But when it happens, it's wonderful.

And it's absolutely horrible when cliques are created, people fight for attention, and the directors have a favorite.

"And it's absolutely horrible when cliques are created, people fight for attention, and the directors have a favorite. " Thats the truest thing I've read this week. But Sunday is the beginning of the week re: There is something you get from theatre that...

I absolutely love doing shows even if the show is a horrible one, the bonding is the best thing ever!

yeah i totally agree. The show that i was the most upset at was when I played Eponine in Les Mis. That was my first show ever. Our cast was so incredibly close. I could hardly get through the last show. Our entire cast was crying during the finale.
