Things to do in New York

I'm going to New York with my parents, my sister and my girlfriend on the weekend. We're arriving Thursday night.
We're all seeing Gypsy together on Friday night, and there's been talk of the 30 Rock tour or maybe going to the the MoMA... and my girlfriend has mentioned she wants to go to Rupert Gee's Hello Deli... aside from that I don't really know what the hell we're going to be doing.
Really touristy crap aside, what is there to do? What are some good places to eat? What neighbourhoods should I see? Where can my girl and I go to ditch the family? My girlfriend really loves to shop for clothes (it's becoming a problem) but I have very little patience for most kinds of shopping.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Posted: 6/4/08 at 2:57pmI'm 23. Sorry, guess that makes a difference. The parents are in their fifties, and the girlfriend and sister are 21 and 22 respectively.

You're right, this one is two years old, but I think there are still a lot of good ideas in there.

Central Park is amazing. I actually walked around there for the first time last month, and loved it. There is so much to see there.
Bryant Park is smaller, but nice too.
And my 3 favorite stores ever are Macy's on 34th, and Tiffany's and FAO Schwarz on 5th Ave.

To bad you're not going next week. The Bryant Park film festival kicks off on June 16 with Dr. No (the first Bond film).
