This thread is especially for the "little bit older" folks.
Remember when you were young and you heard your parents and relatives say things that you thought were so corny you had to cringe? And do you find yourself saying them now?
LOL - I just heard myself saying to the hot trainer at my gym - "You're lucky I'm not 20 years younger, young man!" OY VEY
And I keep saying to the young kids "When I was your age......"
Has anyone else found themselves saying those things?

When I was a kid and my elders would only listen to "their music" I would say "I am always going to stay with the times and listen to current music."
Yeah. I mostly listen to 80s and early 90s music. *sigh*

You don't need to be "older" to laugh when you say/hear "Oscar winner Mo'nique".
However, richly deserved the award was (and it most certainly was).

I sometimes call people my age or younger "kids". Even though I'm 22, so I am a bit young...

Posted: 3/16/10 at 3:53pmI say "beauty parlor" all the time. And get this - the stylists who work there were once called "operators."

Posted: 3/16/10 at 3:57pmI still "tape" shows I want to watch.
#9Things you never thought you' d say!
Posted: 3/16/10 at 4:05pmI still put food in the ice box. And I'm not nearly old enough to have ever even seen an ice box. I just picked the term up from my parents and grandparents.

^ I do that too. (I mean taping stuff on a VCR.) I've heard teens say that they couldn't do things like apply to college without the internet. I actually filled all my applications out by hand and mailed them because it was just easier to send everything at once.

"ice box" - that's funny, artscallion!
One thing my aunt said the other day that I refuse to say is "dungarees."

Posted: 3/16/10 at 5:11pmSimilar to DayDreamers's revelation, when I realized I didn't want to keep up with the latest internet phenomenons like ChatRoulette or Twitter (ok, caved on that, but I check it maybe once a week). Sad that I consider that a de-evolution.

Posted: 3/16/10 at 5:49pmI'm no fan of rap/hip hop to say the least. There are times when I wonder if it's my age when I say it isn't really music!

I say things like that all the time to my students. "When I was your age...", "I remember when there was no internet...", "When I was a kid we didn't have..." and I'm only 26.

I already say "when I was your age" and I'm only thirteen! "When I was your age, I didn't have my own cell phone" "When I was your age, I didn't use social networking websites". I am just shocked at the number of elementary school students with cell phones and facebook accounts. That doesn't mean you're getting old if I say it, too.
Jane, I always say the same thing about rap/hip-hop not being music. I seem to be the only person at my school who thinks this way. It's not your age.

Posted: 3/16/10 at 8:13pmI seriously don't want my elementary school child having a cell or a FB account!

A first grader was caught with a note about oral sex, when asked where they had heard about it they said from the people who call them on their cell phone when they gave their number out to older kids they'd met at the skating rink...
The child's mom and dad had NO CLUE who she was talking to on her cell phone. That's right- a 6 year old receiving unsupervised calls on her own personal cell phone.
When I was her age my Barbie didn't even have a cell phone...
