"IrishCentral.com has learned exclusively that famed actress Natasha Richardson, the wife of Irish superstar Liam Neeson, has been critically injured in Canada, according to an insider at the Montreal hospital to which she was taken.
Richardson, who was set to co-star with her mother, Vanessa Redgrave, in a Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music," was apparently injured in a tragic ski accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury.It is not known whether Neeson is at his wife's side."

A thread was posted on the main board soon after the news broke last night.
The news makes me incredibly sad and worried. I posted a few months ago, after seeing her play Desiree in the concert version of A Little Night Music, how gorgeous her performance was and how much I was looking forward to seeing her play the role on Broadway.
I still hope to see her play it again. I wish her healing.

I hope this is another thing Perez Hilton, nee Mario Lavandeira, got wrong.
God knows he's a terrific writer: "Natasha Richardson has passed away after her fatal skiing accident in Canada on Monday."
Few people survive their fatal accidents.

Agreed, Namo, as the sole source that seems to be reporting this now is TONY (Perez's source as well), and TONY cites unnamed sources close to the family. Not that no one at TONY would have such sources, but a Times story filed only about 20 minutes ago was a bit more upbeat, so...here's hoping.
(eta -- and said TONY story seems to have vanished now? Perez meanwhile has quickly and gracefully moved on to Tyra Banks news)

The Montreal Gazette is simply citing The New York Post:
Actress Natasha Richardson has been declared brain dead after a ski accident Monday at Mont Tremblant ski resort, according to an unconfirmed report.
The New York Post said friends of the actress say she is brain dead.
