Does the tough but heart of gold hero die?
My parents used to have the OBC record of FANNY and I remember looking at the jacket and seeing a heavier Florence Henderson's picture, but I do not know the story of FANNY. I know there is a non musical film of the same story.

Yes--both THE KING AND I and FANNY end in death scenes. (There was of course, Billy's suicide in CAROUSEL, but that wasn't the final scene.)
Now for your bonus points: What two cast members of the original production of SOUTH PACIFIC were also in the original cast of FANNY?

Looks like we have a "triple threat" today--Glebb, Magruder and Wildcat ALL share the honors!!!
