We've just had a 2 minutes' silence at mid-day here at work for all those affected by the atrocities of last Thursday. I know this is something that was taking place nationally and I found it to be completely moving. It really made me realise the power of silence and how so many people were doing exactly the same thing at exactly the same moment both as a mark of respect while sending a clear united message. Isn't it incredible that sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is be still, silent and completely in the moment?

So sad that CNN couldn't last more thn 30 seconds of silence.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien

How about two minutes of silence for everyone that was affected in an apt building collapse on the Upper West Side.
