I know that many people ask for Musical Theatre Colleges on this board, but I want to ask for a Vocal Performance school. My passion used to Broadway, which I still love, but my passion and my main talent, is singing Opera and Classical literature. If you could give me any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. I also don't want to go to a conservatory, because in College I'll be double majoring to be a Paralegal.

I do know that I'm going to be looking into Indiana University: Bloomington. It's my top choice by far. IU is where my sister went, and it's absolutley wonderful down there and is a wonderful school. I'm also looking into Michigan State, also a great school. I went there for camp this summer and got close to Dr. Fracker and Dr. Reed. They both said if I ever need a tour on campus, or just finding out about it; they would gladly help me.

So those are my top two choices, your opinion is much appreciated.

Oberlin
University of Hartford - the Hartt School
Ithaca College
Boston University
University of Michigan (different than michigan state)
SUNY Fredonia (but it's in kinda a crappy town, i used to live there...)
UMaine Farmington (? - i'm not sure which UMaine it is, i'm almost sure it's farmington)
Millikin
Juilliard (obviously, but hella competitive and political - i wouldn't recommend it so much. my experiences with the faculty were less than fabulous)

that's my list for right now...PM me if you have questions!!! good luck!!

I don't know if it is considered a "vocal performance school", but I know a woman who majored in Vocal Performance at Carnegie Mellon. She absolutely loved it and it's supposed to be a great school. And she is an incredible performer who credits a lot of her talent to the school.
