Her intrigue is so engrossing.
Her prescence is so formidable.
She is beyond compare.
But what is it about her that makes her, well, Judi Dench?
I love her to death.
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

Me too! She has such a great Career on film and stage. I'm not sure when she began her film career, but it's interesting that it's really took off at a time when most actresses slow down.
IMO, she would be the perfect Madame Armfeldt in the Revival of A Little Night Music(having already played Desiree).

The first film she made, that was released in a movie theatre, was "The Third Secret" in 1964.

And the wonderful timbre of her voice.
I adore her, but I think her performance in MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS is vastly overrated, especially in relation to her other work -- she could do it in her sleep. Ditto with her turn in SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE.
I find that most of the great British thespians -- post-Olivier -- enjoyed blossoming film careers only after they reached a certain age. Dench, McKellen, Hopkins, Hawthorne, Ian Holm, etc.

Posted: 1/15/06 at 2:37pmEven in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE - I didn't know she was in it. Those 10 or so minutes of her on screen were just brilliance. She is ALWAYS brilliant. I especially love her in CHOCOLAT.
