Jamie Foxx deserves both his nods.

I disagree - he deserves his RAY nomination no doubt - but surely not his COLLATERAL nomination - many actors gave superior performances this year - the fact that COLLATERAL was recognized at all is beyond me - especially Jamie Foxx's typical, mediocre performance.

What do you mean his performance was typical? If you meant that it was a typical Jamie Foxx performance, then you're wrong bbecause Jamie has never done a movie like that. His performance in Colateral was more nuanced and subtle, which most may not have noticed. Folks really should'nt be surprised by his double nods because he was recieving buzz for both parts especially Colateral. I think it shows a great deal about his performance that the Academy remembered it from the summer.

I've seen a lot of folks up in arms about Jamie getting so many nominations. I rarely hear much when Julianne Moore got her double nods and Nicole Kidman and Renee Zelwegger have been up like every year for a couple of years. Should Renee Zelwegger have gotten a nom for Bridget Jones? I highly doubt it, but when you're a darling of the Academy you get noms. I guess Jamie is their "it boy" for this year.

"...Julianne Moore got her double nods."

I wasn't up in arms when she was double nominated because I adored her performances (and characters) in both films. Simple, really. And you won't be calling her the Academy's "darling" at the end of February when she has no Oscars and Foxx has his one!

Jamie Foxx. May the backlash begin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an upset in this category. I'd like to see either DiCaprio or Cheadle win over Foxx.

All hell will break loose. Can you imagine the look on Jamie Foxx's face as the camera cut back to him while the "upset" gave his acceptance speech? I'm sure he'd go into a deep depression, which is one reason why the Academy should probably just give him the win.

I just think he needs to chill out. He's getting a little too cocky. And while I think his performance in RAY was good, and possibly even deservant of a nomination, I also thought it was somewhat one-dimensional. Actually, wouldn't it be too funny if there was a tie? Between DiCaprio and Cheadle. Oh I know, just wishful thinking on my part. I'm fairly certain they're going to give it to Foxx.

People were talking Oscar nomination for Collateral WAY before Ray was being talked about.

They were??????????? Why? I really didn't think he was any good in Collateral at all which is why I was all the more stunned at how great he was in Ray.
