would you like to hear on some the later cast recordings? I was listening to 'Little Women' recently and couldn't help but think that Karen Carpenter would have been terrific performing 'Here Alone'. I could just imagine how wonderful her delivery of that song would have been - lines like 'Every word should bring you closer and caress you with its tone' would have been tailor-made for her. Anyone else have any later cast recordings they would like to have heard other artists from the past perform?

Keeping with Little Women, when I first heard "Days of Plenty", I thought to myself how great Elaine Paige would sound singing it.

I will not stoop to take your bait, mefman.

I'd love to hear Macy Gray cover "The Light in the Piazza."

Elaine Paige can make ANY song better by singing it!

Having heard her butcher As If We Never Said Goodbye, I beg to differ.

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

Popcultureboy - to me, she sings the definative "As If We Never Said Goodbye." And as Andrew Lloyd Webber said, hearing her sing it was the first time he stood up and applauded one of his own songs...

While I haven't heard her butcher a song, she fails to impress me. I put on her "Memory" and then Betty Buckley's, and Elaine is no match.

I think I would gouge out my eyes to hear Macy Gray screech/ruin any songs from Light in the Piazza.

But I would want a recording of Hugh Panaro as the Phantom... I wish he was the original.

I always hear Heather Headley singing "Defying Gravity" for some reason. It's hard to get her intonation out of your head once you've heard her sing anything. And, Elphaba sits in her range so well.

As great as Rick Lyon is, I wish I could hear the late Jim Henson sing "If You Were Gay" in the actual Ernie voice.

For that matter, Frank Oz doing "My Girlfriend Who Lives in Canada" as Bert would be a hoot, too!

The late Dorothy Loudon would have been wonderful singing all of Margaret's songs in Piazza, Dividing Day and Fable especially.
