The film is good fun and I loved it. I saw a preview showing of it on the 16th of this month over at the Burns Center in Pleasantville (along w/ a Q&A with Woody and Janet Maslin). There were some unforgettable one-liners and the cast, I thought, was ideal. No real complaints...a lot of purposely recycled lines, although it did get tiresome. And afterwards, Woody told the audience he thought SCOOP was a "self-indulgent piece of fluff." It's kind of a SMALL TIME CROOKS meets MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY meets CURSE OF THE JADE SCORPION, but far better than most of his work in the later 90's and up until MATCH POINT. A good summer comedy--don't grade it comparatively to MATCH POINT--but I recommend a viewing if you need a (humorous) escape this coming summer.

Great to hear, DOOGIE. Now that Allen has made a fabulous dramatic work, it's nice to see him making a great comedy again.

Great piece in New York Magazine today. Nice and short little article ("And God Created Scarlett") in which Logan Hill calls SCOOP an "old-school Allen Comedy...peppered with vintage-Woody one-liners" as well as one of "his best in years." Great article for a variety of reasons...the website for NY Magazine isn't working for me, but I'd check it out.

I'm not the biggest fan of Woody Allen, but I love Scarlett Johnson, ever since THE PERFECT SCORE, and this looks hysterical. Plus Hugh Jackman is awesome.
