Posted: 3/26/05 at 9:32pmAnne Miller doing "Chasing the Blues Away," Judy singing "I love a Piano," Fred Astaire doing everyting -- and the art direction and high style we don't get anymore. It's a necessary seasonal ritual. Anyone with this film in their private collection, don't forget to take a look.

Posted: 3/27/05 at 1:51amWatched it just this evening! Great film, i'll probably be buying it. I hadn't seen it before tonight, and I must say, it definely made me like Ann Miller. I didn't like her as Lois Lane in the movie of Kiss Me, Kate. Her "Always True To You" wasn't pleasant to listen to at all. *Dives into trenches from angry bullets*.

Ann Miller is an acquired taste. But her "Shaking the Blues Away" is the perfect Easter sentiment. It's all about rebirth and renewal.
My favorite Judy song in the movie is "When the Midnight Choo Choo Leaves for Alabam"--I love to see her having fun like that.

Why don't I have TCM or this movie on DVD?
No chocolate, no jelly beans, no Easter Parade - *cries, kicks, stomps*

Did you and your niece sing "When the Midnight Choo-Choo Leaves for Alabam"?
If not, you need to watch the movie with her. It makes a great duet.

Watching it a little later, after I finish listening to Lohengrin. (Handel was the breakfast music.)
What's Easter without Handel's MESSIAH, Wagner's LOHENGRIN, and Berlin's EASTER PARADE?
