Suddenly "ookie mouth" doesn't seem so appealing, does it, Liam?
That's illegal, Liam.
You should call social services.
eheheh could sores...mouth herpes.
Listen up: I've had 'em on and off for 20 years. Abreva DOES work. But, critically, you have to alternate it with polysporin cream. Use a layer of one, a layer of the other, and alterate every hour, particularly the first day. The ugly phrase -- when it swells up like a bee sting -- goes away MUCH quicker. I was skeptical of Abreva, but the claim that if you use it early it works is true. And you have to carry the damned stuff with you and just keep slathering it on. DO NOT FAIL to use polysporin -- maxium strength, just the CVS generic brand. It makes an enormous difference in how 'big' the sore gets, and the speed of the healing. I've found the icky, yellow, crusty phase really doesn't happen if you keep slathering the polysporin. Anyone else out there use it?

I've used ABREVA, but I don't think it's that great for the money. What I like is Zilactin-L. It's a liquid and it burns like heck, but I think it works the best.
do you know how much that costs?
oh and is it me or do they only come in winter?

Zilactin-L costs about $10 for a small bottle.
My mom and sister both seem to get cold sores a lot. For the last few years they've been taking Lysine as soon as they feel one coming on. They swear that it always stops the sore right then. If they wait too long - they get it and then have a terrible time getting rid of it.
(I believe that Lysine tablets only cost about half as much as some other treatments.)
Abreva is my choice. I even used it on herpes zoster (shingles) and it really helped. You can get it much cheaper if you shop around.
