I am pretty sure I am going to get the new ipod 30GB video. The website says it holds 7500 songs, 25000 photos, and 1000 photos. That's 7500 songs plus 1000 videos right? It's not either or? Also, it's not that big a decision, but I can't decide between white and black. Thoughts?
I don't know about your other questions, but the black is more pracitcal. The white gets dirty and scuffed easily.
I have also an iPod vid 30GB and it's black. I wish I had a white one but it was a gift.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about technology, but I'm thinking that it's either/or. If the 4GB mini holds roughly 1,000 songs, then the 30GB should be able to hold a little more than 7 times that...equaling 7,500 songs.
As for white and black, go for white. I thought black would be nicer, but then I got it...the fingerprints show up like crazy, and if you want to buy a silicon case to protect it, the black shows through and it looks strange. But apparently the white gets scratched, too, so it's hard to say.

White or black, it doesn't really make a difference as long as you have a case or something around the ipod to protect it. Personally, I have a black nano.
I don't really see why people make a big deal about it- both colors have their cons but only if they're not covered (and you really should cover it).
Sure Mary, Black... like your soul...

As much as I do like the discussion about the color... I'm really more worried about the capacity. Anyone have any definitive answers?
The amount of songs and videos your iPod can hold depends on the bitrate, length, and general size of all your songs and videos.
Of course, using common sense, you'll be able to find that 3 5-hour videos takes up more space than 3 half-hour videos. And a 128K song will take up less space than a 192K song (give that they are the same length).
The capacity that they give is based off of very basic, standard measurements.
And I"m preeeeeeeeeeeettty sure it's either or. But as long as your songs aren't too big and your video's aren't either, you'll be okay. And if you run out of room, you can always cycle your songs by (un)checking them in your library andhaving your ipod only update checked songs.
As for the color, it's really your preference. I have a black one because I planned on changing the firmware anyway and making the screen look different and it looks cool, with a black iPod and a blue playing screen.
Black ones will probably show the hairline scratches a bit more than the white, but if you get a huge gash, it'll show up on both of them either way.
I personally think the scratches make your iPod your own. I have loooooooooooots of interesting stories to tell from my iPod scratches. Don't know why everyone's so worried about keeping it mint condition. The acrylic plastic they use on the iPod is a bit bad, so it's BOUND to get scratched soon. Just say "wow" when you first get it and don't worry about every pinstripe that shows up on the screen.

I have a white 30GB iPod. I like the white more than the black. The white just looks cleaner and more crisp to me.
DEFINITELY get a case. I made the mistake of not getting one right away, so my screen is a little scratched on the left side. It's not very noticeable and it doesn't impair my view if I'm watching a show or something on it, but it is annoying just knowing that my screen is scratched.
The songs/videos and such is either/or. It will hold 7500 songs OR 25000 photos OR 1000 videos or varying combinations of those. One of the kids I work with has one that has nothing but Disney movies on it. His dad told me that it will hold 250 hours of video. As for the color, I got white, just because most of the accessories are white. Whichever you get, get a Power Support Crystal Film Cover Set for iPod. Put it on before you even start using it. (Then get some kind of case to put over that.) It will keep it looking BRAND new all the time.

Can someone explain what this means and what it does? I have an ipod now, but I have never heard of doing this.
Jerseygirl- where can I get that case??
I got mine at the Apple Store. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=94B116D8&nplm=TG139LL%2FA It is great. I had a lot of scratches and as soon as I put the Crystal Film on it, it looked brand new. It's like a big clear plastic sticker. It has one for the back, one for the front and one shaped for the click wheel. Best $15 I ever spent (well, that my boss ever spent for me.) As for regular cases, they sell them anywhere, but I think the best one is iSkin. Browse the Apple Store website. They have all the stuff the recommend.

If it's a sticker, does it come off?
