Her name is Roxie. She's adorable. I've had her for about a year and a half and she's never had fleas. Now, for some reason the fleas found her and she's being eaten alive. I feel really bad for her. I've tried some shampoos, but they don't protect her from more fleas after the bath. WHAT DO I DO???????????

Yes, please do. She needs to get some sort of flea/tick preventative during the summer.

She needs a flea dip.
Perhaps a flea collar, too.
And, you need to vacuum your home very thoroughly. Those things jump off the dog and onto your floor and furniture.

you can get Frontline flea protection from your vet. it is a liquid that goes onto the back. one dose is probably about 1/2 teaspoon. it keeps fleas off for 6 weeks.
Yes--get Frontline. Flea collars are pretty toxic--except the organic citrus-y ones, and they don't work that well. Frontline makes the dogs' blood toxic to the fleas.
And Sherman--sorry, I'm not stalking you; this is coincidental. (where are you going now? Can I come with you? Can I?)
eek!! I'm frightened!
I'm waiting to find a flea before I put Frontline on my dogs.
I hate putting insecticide on their little bodies. So far so good this summer, haven't seen any yet.

My dog gets frontline once a month. The thing is even if you're in the city, and don't leave - other dogs do go to the country and things, and then they bring back those nasty little bugs with them. Its better safe than sorry!

The other one is Advantix, which also repels mosquitos.
I'd get rid of that dog. Pronto.
What does the glorious WOO use? Can mere mortal dogs use it too?
I gave my dog Advantix one time 5 years ago when I got him and never saw another flea. But than again he's the best dog ever so the fleas wouldn't dare go near him because he's so sweet.

Sorry Matt but MY dog is the best dog in the whole wide world and that includes Walli.
Definitely get your dog to the vet ASAP. In addition to causing horrible itching, fleas also can carry tapeworm, & NO ONE enjoys seeing a tiny worm segment waving to them from a piece o' poo! (I was a vet tech for several years.) It is not pleasant...
Frontline is a good, safe product, but your first thing should be a flea dip.
& keep in mind, if they have infested your home, you may need to do a thorough de-flea-ing of your home. (bombing, spraying, etc.)
Good luck!!

Speak for yourself. I am getting more than a little tired of these generalizations around here.
