i just came home form the fabric store... we were in line to pay behind this lady... she was complaining and called the manager over because an item rang up as $3.99 instead of $3.29
we stood there for about 10 minutes while she argued with the manager, and looked at the line once and said "quite a build-up or people"
i felt like giving her 70 cents and telling her to just please move along so everyone else can pay and get home.

ugh. i have never seen anyone fight with a store manager over 70 cents.

I know what you mean. I always hate it when people complain about little things. I mean, it's only a few cents more.

I cannot even begin to tell you the plethora of morons I met when I worked in retail, it's unbelievable how stupid they are and I have zero tolerance for people like that

but it would have been ok if the fabric cost $25 and she was charged $75.......????

Sorry, what's little to you may not be little to someone else.
You are getting mad at the wrong person......she stood up for herself........and you blame her????

I would have done the same thing

If you had any idea how much people are overcharged on a day to day basis in stores you might feel differently

i HATE being overcharged, and sometimes i'll just ignore it so i can get out of the store. but what's REALLY stupid is why the store has to take SO LONG to "fix" the price. the cashier ought to have the authority to just deduct the error and move on.

When I was at Bestbuy I was allowed to change the price if the discrepancy was under a dollar...

GOod for her - why should she be overcharged? I don't care if it was 70 cents or 7 cents.

errg... That reminds me...

I work at a pharmacy where we give discounts to seniors (10% off their purchase on certain items). I was new to the job, and I didn't realize that the discount applied to Greeting Cards. I forgot to give a lady the discount on this one item. She came back into the store, after she had seen my mistake on the receipt, and didn't even go to me. She went to see my boss (the pharmacist) and shouted for 10 minutes about what a horrible sales clerk I was because I had forgotten the discount. My boss tried to get her to calm down, but she was clearly upset (and over-reacting). I was new and self-consious, so of course this whole ordeal made me feel like crap. In the end, she got her discount. Do you know how much money she got? 15 cents. She made a screaming fuss and made me feel horrible for 15 cents.

grrrr.... I will never forget that woman.

Wow Jera. Just wow. That is over the top. You can't buy a thing with 15 cents!

What made it annoying is she didn't even tell me what I did wrong, she went straight to my boss! Who does that?

70 cents can actually get you a child from the Christian Children's fund for a day. If you're reading this without skimming, then obviously you care about these children. Don't hesitate to call...The number will be on the screen while the train passes by...
Did you know that the camera crew and the cost to film these advertisements, let alone pay for a SPOT on tv, can't feed the children. But you can, for just 70 cents a day.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

I think that is a common reaction, especially in people who lived through the Depression. I remember that my mom once went to Canada for a few days and wanted to send me a post card. She brought in back into the United States to mail it because it irked her that "they" wanted to charge her more for postage in Canada.

It made me crazy at the time, but truthfully, I'd be much better off if I was just a tiny bit more like her about money.
