Hmm. When you're not participating and just cleaning up the already evaporating excretions of others, I think that might have been the sticking point with him. That and having to hide all the OD'd people from police.

I mean you can't just sit around and wait for that agent to call you or for that Nightclub to invite you to headline in their piano bar. You can't just mooch off of people your whole life, right? So you do what you have to do and pursue your dreams during the off hours. But you gotta pay the bills somehow....

Posted: 10/11/05 at 3:01pmi have been a waiter for 12 years. And actor too...I quit my job two months ago to live off of savings and audition all the time. Been doing a lot of SAG background work. I will go back to school in January to get my teaching certificate and maybe become a bitter old high school drama taecher. Actually, I am kinda looking forward to having a career as opposed to a job.

I would hate to be in a position that didn't stimulate me mentally. Or where I would compromise my moral standings.
So, all this means is I won't be a whore when I grow up. I promised my mother. But then again, I saw Cabaret.

Posted: 10/11/05 at 3:19pmMy best friend is in nursing school and she had to spend a semester in the Intensive Care Unit, and got was seriously depressed. The next semester she worked in the newborns nursery and that was the only thing that helped her feel better.

I actually just read it wrong - I thought the question was more about what would YOU not want to do. I just had to deal with some, and they were extraordinary - but the whole time I kept thinking that I couldn't do their job to save my life.
I'm very grateful there are people willing to do those types of things - a lot depends on their capabilities.

I am also very grateful that there are people doing so many jobs -- many I would like to avoid.
But they ARE important -- plumbers, electricians, garbagemen....everyone.

Posted: 10/11/05 at 3:54pmBeing a plumber or electrician isn't exactly a bad job, especially if college isn't your thing. They're skilled, get paid pretty well, and, as far as I know, don't often work as cubicled cogs in a vast corporate machine.
