don't blame me, i voted republican.
democrats to institute the draft
Hmm I love the Buckeyes I am with you there but they wanted to institute the draft so a War like the "War on Terror" would be more well thought if Congress felt people from their own community might be enlisted....
maybe they could vote against it next time instead of playing politics with people's lives. just a thought.
Remind me, who declared war on Iraq?
And who did not plan for post-war occupation?
And who does not have a grip of reality on the ground?
First, I never voted for this man.
Second, that is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. The Republicans haven't felt bad about sending kids off to war so far.
This is going to go nowhere.
Punctuation is such a good thing.
My punctuation is better than most on this board....
Spank me harder.
Oh Christ, where will this end?!!!! Once the whole fu&%ing country is divided?
God, I'm soooo DRAMATIC!

*packs bags* Time for Canada...
He's the only one who said it, no other Democrat will back this guy up.
Besides, according to the story, he trieds this before, and even the Republicans denied him.
Again, it aint happening.
Shiksa, you're female so the draft wouldn't affect you anyway.
And SM2, you're a big Mo, so you're out as well.
I'm too old.

Credit where it's due, papa - you DO know how to stir the pot.

Sorry Papa but thats the quickest way to end the war. When all the rich kids have to go to war,we'll be out of there in a hurry.

I'm happy with a volunteer army. Volunteers prove the fine Republican value of supply and demand. If nobody joins up (supply) there won't be a war (demand). However, since the Dems always want the draft (remember Carter and Selective Service?) they assure that there will always be a supply of soldiers, therefore the demand will be higher for war.
curious. do 18-year-old boys still have to sign-up for the draft within a certain time period of turning 18?
Yes, RobbO, they do.
I'm extremely safe from the draft (not only am I a woman, but I'm disabled, so I'm home-free) but it really worries me because if a draft IS instituted, it will happen about the time that all of my friends and I turn 18. I don't want to lose all of my friends to a stupid war that none of us agree with.
Then again, I doubt it will happen.
Those weren't the four F's in your manhunt profile, but okay....
Wait...I can't be drafted if I'm mentally ill and like round objects up my bum...right?
Really, papa? This is the way you want to play this rather than just discussing the situation and the war and the best course of action to take now? And you want to go on about other people playing politics? Okay then.
